Ride For Cancer Benefit
Hosted by Jim Sobell

Jim Sobell, The Vineyard House’s enterprising owner, is continuing his efforts on behalf of the Lance Armstrong Foundation to benefit cancer victims.
For the past couple of years Sobell has hosted dinners as a means of raising funds to support the foundation.
The $31,000 raised last year in pledges earned Sobell a ride in the 2006 September Live Strong Challenge and even garnered him a private ride with Lance Armstrong.
This year’s goal is $50,000, and $32,000 was already raised at the dinner Sobell hosted on June 5. “I was blown away by the support and generosity of our local Valley folks,” said Sobell.
Sobell’s next fundraiser is a “Gourmet Metric Century Ride” on Saturday, September 22nd, which will feature a course through our beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Bicyclers can do rides of 10 miles, 30 miles and 62 miles (which is 100 kilometers and where the “Century” gets into the name). The ride will be followed by a four-course gourmet dinner at Santa Ynez Park, accompanied by live music and fun games. The entry fee is $50, plus each rider is asked to raise a minimum of $100 in donations. All proceeds are donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. For more information, to sign up for the race or to make a pledge if you wish to help, but don’t want to ride, go visit www.thevineyardhouse.com.
