Carina Cellars www.carinacellars.com When attorney and businessman David Hardee and winemaker Joey Tensley met in 2002, they were quick to recognize the benefits of combining their passion. With Hardee’s talent for business, Tensley’s talent for wine making, and a shared belief in only the best, Carina Cellars was born. The winemaking approach is traditional and minimalist, with the resulting wines rich in traditional varietal flavors and aromas–dark, spicy Syrahs and intense, black-curranty Cabernet Sauvignons. Tensley strongly believes in working with growers who share his approach to canopy management, low yields and wine balance. Carina Cellars produce Viognier, Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache as well as |
| “Iconoclast,” a blend of the best of two appellations: Santa Barbara County Syrah and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Carina Cellars is running an exhibit of work by photographer George Wright. The show, “Three People, Seven Places,” will be on display from April 1st through May 31st. Wright has been photographing the landscape of the Santa Ynez Valley for many years. His unique style plays on the interchange of light, color, water and reflections. The beautiful Santa Ynez Valley has inspired him to capture images of the amazing flower fields, wineries and other notable landscapes of this region. Wright’s work continues to be featured at Los Olivos Days, Spring Arts and the Lompoc Flower Festival. His photography is also often exhibited or on permanent display at Santa Ynez Valley wineries and restaurants. Our lovely cover photo is another example of his talent. For more information about Wright’s work or to view some of his images visit www.photosgeorge.com. Carina Cellars will celebrate their 6th Annual Futures Wine BBQ at their “old” winery in Buellton on Saturday June 6 from 12-3 p.m. Before moving their winery up to the ranch in Paso Robles, they called the Buellton warehouse their home. Come enjoy tasting the 2009 wines while they are still in barrel as well as 35% off all wine purchases. Live music will be provided by blues/rock artists Sean Wiggins and Paul Houston, and a home-style BBQ by De La Saison Catering. Tickets are just $40.00 per person and are going quickly. There are only 50 seats available, so please contact Carolyn Turner to reserve today. You can reach her either by phone at 805-252-0860 or by E-mail at carolyn@carinacellars.com. |
